Yes the WebDAV is very slow...don't know why.
Yes, use the afp to connect as suggested above. Three additional things though:
1) enter the address as afp://idisk.mac.com/youridiskname and save it as a favorite...that way you won't have to type it in each time;
2) THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT...the mac will send your username and password as plain text. This is bad. After pressing the connect button in the first pane, and BEFORE pressing the second connect button, select "options"....change the settings to send your password encrypted. Save these changes as default. Then connect. It is still slow, on a dialup, but much, much faster.
3) Apple has a built in 15 minute timeout on afp connections to idisks. I have found this to be more like 30minutes to an hour. (You will be warned at least prior to disconnection) This is true whether or not there is network activity.
Et franchement y a une différence très nette !
