Darwin 5.1 ???

Bonjour les amis,

Je suppose qu'à l'heure actuelle, tout le monde est déjà passé sous OS X 10.1.1, 5M28.

Quelqu'un a-t-il une explication pour le numéro du noyau ? Celui-ci indique une version 5.1, alors que jusqu'alors, nous étions en 1.4 !!! Qu'est-ce qui peut bien justifier une telle incrémentation, alors que le kernel a à peine été modifié ? Voyez :

Apple tomberait-il dans les travers Netscapiens du plus gros numéro de version pour faire joli ? Ou y a-t-il une explication rationnelle ?

Désolé de ne rien apporter de neuf à ton post, mais j'ai moi aussi remarqué cette bizarrerie, et si quelqu'un a un début d'explication, je suis preneur !

some of the version numbers we have to manage, we decided to change the
version scheme as used inside the kernel. The kernel itself
(com.apple.kernel), as well as all its subcomponents
(com.apple.kernel.iokit, ...bsd, ...libkern, etc) are now 5.1. uname
also reports 5.1 as the kernel version.

This number is synthesized as follows: The major version is the same as
the build number (like the "5" in "5G64"); The minor number is the
(sequential) release number from that build. The variant number is
reserved, and will be used to denote variants or branches of a given
release.

If this scheme had been in use since we first shipped 10.0, here are
what the numbers would have been:

chez Sun, solaris 8, c'est la meme chose
que SunOS 2.8
