Emailed JPEG file problem
Leigh Bloom - 01:23pm Oct 15, 2001 Pacific
When I email a JPEG file to one of my clients they are unable to open them. I have tried using both Netscape & Outlook to email with. I have tried saving the files with different names still no luck. I send and receive JPEGs from and to other clients without any problem. Any Ideas? I am Mac based and this client is PC based, but I send to other pc based clients without problem. Also I have sent the JPEGs to another individual (also Mac Based) and he sent them to my client without any problems. Once angain what is happening and how can I fix it?

append the jpgextension to the file if you haven't already. then check what MIME type you are sending.

also you may want to make sure that your outlook settings are set to "apple double" in the attachments column. that should make it readable on either mac or pc.

I've had a problem sending jpegs to a friend who is not computer savey and who is on aol. I have found that progressive Jpegs work better in this instance as well as the tips above.

If the original image is CYMK then that may be the culprit. Change to RGB color space and then resend JPG. For some reason certain web browsers do not like CYMK JPGs.
